St Vincent and the Grenadines Carnival
Truly and utterly amazing! Carnival in St Vincent and the Grenadines is spectacular, like no other. The beautiful sandy beaches, green luscious hills pales in comparison to the beautiful colours paraded during this twelve days of celebration in this beautiful island. People from all over the world visit St Vincent during this time to experience this truly amazing event. Loud spellbinding music blasting from trucks as revelers take to the street to showcase their talents as they dance and enjoy themselves, forgetting their troubles for that moment.
Competitors dressed up in costumes of rich luxurious colours with fantastic details and imaginations, showcasing the brilliance of the artist as they compete for first place on and off stage. Every where you look there is someone having a good time, either dancing or dressed up in costumes or just simply liming which is St Vincent means relaxing with friends, with a drink in your hand. You are never hungry as there are small cafes or self made shops dotted around for you to indulge in the Caribbean cuisine.
There are also numerous competitions held during this time, one of which is Miss Carival. Several Caribbean island send their representatives to compete for the prestigious title of Miss Carival . During this show the contestants compete against each other in different categories, entertaining the adoring crowd with performances of dance, songs, poems. Showing their exotic swimwear and elegant evening gowns. Miss Carival is a well sort after show during Carnival as everyone waits anxiously to see which of the contestant is crowned Miss Carival.
A few other popular shows are the Calypso and Soca Monarch competition. Being crowned king or queen of Calypso or Soca Monarch is a converted title and each year the competition gets more competitive with more upbeat crowd pleasings songs and stage performances from a wider range of people. Calypsonians compete on stage for one night entertaining the crowd with sweet Calypso music and stage performances, but only one will be crown on that night with the title of king or queen of the night for one year.
There are many other activities that any one can get involved in. For the juniors there is Junior Carnival or Calypso, for the adults, there are other activities.
